s Step It Up thanks the employees of Laclede Gas for their donation of 50 pairs of shoes.

Step It Up received the Special Ambassador Award from the Special School District.

Step It Up is pleased to be assisting the St. Louis City Public Schools and the St. Louis Special School District. Students/ families can request shoes through the school's social workers and they will be provided free of charge.

Step It Up is pleased to announce the addition of James Rogan to the board of the organization. Many of you know Jim from the shoe distributions. He has also been instrumental in obtaining contributions on a monthly basis from his employer to match the donated employee time.

The "Shoe Room" as it is affectionately known has been dedicated in honor of our late friend Mike Parey.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the loss of our friend, volunteer and donor, Mike Parey. Mike had assisted us in our recent efforts to put shelves in the shoe warehouse and was planning on being the shoe delivery truck driver for the March 10, 2009, shoe distribution at the Lemay Head Start. We will miss his jovial presence.

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our good friend, volunteer and donor, Lance Ferguson. His commitment to our organization and his enduring support will be greatly missed.

Thanks to all who played and donated to the first annual golf tournament.

We raised enough money to be able to buy close to 2000 new pairs of shoes. The support we have received has been fantastic and has brightened the lives of many children and families in the St. Louis area.

The YWCA of Metro St. Louis honored Step It Up as one of its 2008 volunteer community organizations of the year.
